The work of one of the wittiest journalists of the twentieth century is now available online.
John contributed interviews, columns, reviews and features to most of the leading publications in the UK and America from the 1950s until his sudden death in 2004.
His tribute website contains far more than just a selection of perceptive and insightful writing. There are glowing herograms from his many fans but also glowering letters from editors summarily sacking him when he failed to deliver – or dared to answer back.
John’s slyly witty and subtle animal poems are also published here, for the first time.
But apart from being great fun to read and showing journalism at its sparkling best, John’s website is also invaluable as a handy archive for media students, sociologists, contemporary historians and media commentators.
